Yesterday, my eldest girl who will soon be 22, ask me this - Dad, what do you think if I start a serious relationship with a guy?.

What would you have said if you were in my shoes?. After all she is thousands of km away in Sydney, legally an adult, does well in her exams and a well brought up, church going and disciplined girl.

I was happy she asked me for advice but I felt it was more like asking me for my permission. Don’t you agree?.

Oh well, we spent the next 30 mins chatting about this guy, the dating game, her MBA studies this year and how she will cope with now having to deal with some new issues in her growing up years.

Well another 2 girls age 13 and 17 left at home with me. I wonder what will happen if they too start dating. Any comments to share?

Saturday, an old friend Lee Meng from Singapore called me and said he was in KL and wanted to meet up for a coffee. Braving the blazing sun, I left the comfort of home, and met him at Macdonalds at Alpha Angle.

So what’s a Hot Brick?. Simply this - you invest some money with the promise of huge returns, on condition that you get some other suckers to also part with their hard earned cash, so that you can get back your investment. Until then, you carry the hot brick!

If it’s too good to be true, then it certainly is. So I told him, just go sell off your assets and dump in all your cash, and you will be rich with all the promised hugh returns.

Some people just never learn and I guess it’s just greed and the thought of easy money that lures out the gambler in some people.

There are 4 things you can do, to reduce the spam mail in your mailbox. Please read carefully and you can make a difference.

1.  To, CC, BCC

If you email friends using the To or CC, you are the cause of spam messages. If you have to email many friends, please have the courtesy to protect the privacy of your friends email addresses, and use the BCC line instead.

It does not matter if others do it, but once you everyone can make a little effort, then all of us can reduce the spam messages we receive.

2.  Removing email addresses in email body

The other thing we can do is to remove all the email addresses we receive in the email body, and just forward the actual message.

3.  Removing all the forwarding attachments and get to the original email

Do you hate receiving emails that you really cant see the message, till you open up all the attachemnts, which may contain viruses? If you do, then please make sure you are not one of the culprits that forward attachments.

4.  Tidy up the email you send out, as a coutesy to your recipients

Do you receive emails that don’t seem to be formatted properly. have wide open spaces and photos seem to be out of place?. Tidy them up before sending the email out.

What leaves your mailbox, reflects on you and your respect for your recipients. So have some decent courtesy to ensure your email is well received and highly anticipated by all your friends.

It starts with you and ends with you. So you can make the difference.

The KLCI hit it’s highest peak at 1502 last week and everyone was rejoicing. Today, the KLCI is at 1352 a drop of 10%, and probably wiping out the savings and retirement funds of most small players.

I cashed out last month when the KLCI was at 1426, after holding since the index was 700. I hope I am able to catch the KLCI at it’s lowest before going in again.  Is this the start of a bear run and the start of the 8 year bust cycle?. Sounds quite scary for most people.

What will happen if the KLCI falls another 10 or 20%?. I guess it will be a very sad Chinese New Year and also the General Elections will have to be delayed, due to lack of funds. hehehehehe.

Read an article about the stock market fall and high inflation, and how it is affecting most Singaporeans quite badly. It’s a shame especially when most people treat the stock market, like a casino, gambling their savings, retirement funds and even punting on borrowed capital.

Oh well, easy come, easy go and I guess the stock market is the fastest gambling place you can find.

I was chatitng with Audrey my eldest girl, who is now in Sydney yesterday about the World Internet Summit.

I’ve been selling a whole range of products online for quite a while now, and to many people, I am an expert as I am able to sell just about anything. Sounds good yah.

I was listening to Andrew last night, and he was likening the start of the year to opening a brand new year book of yourself.

Everything that will happen to you this year, will be determined by what you decide to write into your own book.

In other words, you alone can create your destiny for this year, and if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail…it’s as simple as that!.

Impossible?. Actually not. Everything we ever planned for - be it deciding on our careers, buying our assets, pursueing our better half, all required careful planning, strategising, and never giving up, till we achieved our goal.

Yet, after the studies are over, the assets are bought, the marriage is done, most people stop planning and strategising. Is it because we become so smart that we can now blame our bosses and the government for our failures?
