Wild at Heart

Saturday, an old friend Lee Meng from Singapore called me and said he was in KL and wanted to meet up for a coffee. Braving the blazing sun, I left the comfort of home, and met him at Macdonalds at Alpha Angle.

It’s always nice meeting up old dear frineds and catching up over a cheap coffee at McD. Right until the time they open their mouth and tell you about some fantastic deal they just got into.

Turns out, it’s Sunshine Empire - one of the scams that has been banned by our Securities Commission and listed on the Central Bank website since last year. What puzzled me even more was it’s also on the alert list in Singapore, and yet, this so called friend of mine, was trying to sucker me into this scam, and pass me his Hot Brick.

So what’s a Hot Brick?. Simply this - you invest some money with the promise of huge returns, on condition that you get some other suckers to also part with their hard earned cash, so that you can get back your investment. Until then, you carry the hot brick!

If it’s too good to be true, then it certainly is. So I told him, just go sell off your assets and dump in all your cash, and you will be rich with all the promised hugh returns.

Some people just never learn and I guess it’s just greed and the thought of easy money that lures out the gambler in some people.

Most people are willing to work hard till they are 55, and yet when I show them a home based franchised system, everyone expects it to be easy money. There is no such thing as easy money, but simple and not stressful or difficult, yes.

Unlike a traditional business or franchise, a home based franchise teaches you to build a network, and as a master franchise owner, allows you to earn a leveraged income, long after you stop doing the work. It’s nice earning 10% of your income from your own efforts and 90% of your income from other people’s efforts.

Forget about Hot Bricks and quick returns. As my dad used to say - easy come, easy go. So today I tell my kids the same thing. To be rich, find a unique and consumable product everyone wants, and learn the skills to get and keep a customer, and you will have profits for a very long time.
