Give and Take
First the new Opposition Penang Chief Minister waives all parking and illegal hawker fines upon taking office last week, and this week, the Opposition Perak Chief Minister does the same. Both these state governements were with DAP majority.
But I feel they have done it wrongly. If they are to really help the people, they should have asked them to come forward with their fines for cancellation, and give suggestions on how the new government can help solve their parking and hawking problems, so it does not happen again.
Only then, will the people see the new Opposition government as a caring and listening administration. Not as a Santa Clause, dishing out freebies to the citizens.
Well the pressure is now on the Opposition Selangor Chief Minister to do the same. But will he, as the state majority is held by PKR and not DAP?.
In a win-win situation, there is always give and take, and the DAP majority state governments, should have taken the suggestions from the people in exchange for the cancellation of the fines.
I hope lessons are learnt and not repeated.
