Filipina or Indonesian - i am confused

It’s time to decide on my next maid, as my current one will leave in December after working for 3 years.

So far I’ve had 6 maids. When the kids were younger, I decided to get maids around 30s with young kids, so that they could treat my girls like their own. But all of them left after 2 years to be with their own families.

The present one, I decided to get a young one early 20s and single, with the hope that she could stay on for years and be part of the family. But after 26 months, she wants to go back to get married.

It’s tiring to keep on training new maids every few years. I have a cousin, who has a filipina who drives my cousin’s son to and from school. So I am seriously considering if that should be the way to go to have a 2 in 1 - maid and driver too!

But everything comes with a price - a filipina maid enjoys a higher salary, has 2 off days monthly and costs a lot more in agency and transport fees.

Any suggestions for a good agency I should use for my next maid?

Taxes & Death - yes you can avoid

High Taxes and early death can be avoided, if you know how.

As an employee, you are taxed on your earnings before expenses, but for business owners, you are taxed on your profits i.e. sales less expenses.

Yes it is tax time again. Don’t you agree that the days are long, but the years just whiz by so quickly. I don’t know about you, but I do hate working on my taxes, but it has to be done and it definitely has its’ rewards, because I have a Home Based Business the last 9 years!

Since I run my business from home and it is an MLM or network marketing company, whichever you prefer, I must keep track of all of my expenses throughout the year and pay taxes on my income at the end of the year as well.

THERE ARE GREAT TAX BENEFITS WORKING FROM HOME! 

Whether you are involved in MLM, Network Marketing, or some other type of home based business you can benefit from the list below. To start, here is a link to do your online tax returns with the LHDN. – Tax Dept.

If you are earning just a salary, your dateline is 30th April, but if you have a part time business income, then your dateline is 30th June.

If you have been toying with the idea of starting a home based business then stop messing around and see what can become your legitimate tax deductions when you start working from home! If you already have a home business this will help to open your eyes and see why it is so important to keep track of all of your expenses.

1) The initial investment or the start-up costs you pay to become associated with your preferred MLM / network marketing opportunity, or other business venture. Also, your marketing materials. Do you share brochures, flyer’s, DVDs, etc. with potential customers?? If so, you can use those expenses as deductions as well.

2) Your computer - If you are using it for your business and contact information then it is part of your business expenses. Computer and Computer supplies — anything related to your business. If you have several people in your household, it may be a better idea to have one computer for exclusive use in your home based business and one for the rest of the family. Otherwise, keep good records of when you are working on the computer. Keep a log next to your computer so when you are on it you can log your time usage.

3) Your Internet connection - yes you are using your computer to market your product worldwide and to talk to your business partners and to drum up more business.

4) Furniture for your office or home office

5) Your long distance and cell phone service - If you are working a network marketing business or an mlm I know you are on the phone often and with people from all around the globe.

6) A percentage of your rent or mortgage - Do you have a space that you are using as your "home" office? If you are working from home it could be an entire room, a desk in the kitchen, your entire basement or any other place you set up your "stuff" to do business.

7) Gifts to business partners, associates or clients (speak to your accountant to find out how much per person per year is deductible)

8) Your utilities - Heat, AC, electricity. You are using all of these things when you work from home so a percentage of these can be deductions as well.

9) Travel costs to go to seminars and conferences. Deductible travel costs include hotels, airfare, taxis, car rentals, tips, and so on. Make sure to talk to your accountant and find out what and how much to deduct appropriately.

10) Costs for running and maintaining your vehicle portioned out for private and business use. Including petrol, tolls, parking, maintenance & insurance.

11)  Stationary costs, stamps, envelopes, pens, cds, dvds and all office material necessary in running your business

12) Most important - Get a good accountant that knows HOME BASED BUSINESS! Accounting and bookkeeping fees can also be a deduction! (including the portion of your tax return preparation fee that includes your business return can also be tax deductible)

This is just my short list of things that can be deducted if you have a home based business. I hope this list is helpful to you! 

Make sure you plan ahead and keep track so that when taxes are due you are not looking around for all your receipts. I keep a file with individual folders labeled January through December. Each time I get a receipt, bill etc… I put it in the appropriate folder. At the end of each month, I enter what I need to into a spreadsheet and at the end of the year I give the spreadsheet to my accountant. I also give him the folders with the receipts so that he can make sure I did not miss anything. My accountant also knows the square footage of my home and he knows the space I have designated as my office. He does some type of percentage to handle the utilities.

As noted above…make sure you have a good accountant that knows how to handle a work from home situation. You want to make sure that can determine which expenses are deductible in your specific circumstances.

If you think you pay too much in taxes, then it’s time to start a home-based Bioslife Franchise business or the Unicity MLM business and shift some of your personal expenses into business expenses, resulting in lowered taxes !.

What Makes 100%? What does it mean to give MORE than 100%? Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%? We have all been to those meetings where someone wants you to give over 100%. How about achieving 103%? What makes up 100% in life?

Here’s a little mathematical formula that might help you answer these questions:

I saw a road side banner about the Streamyx Combo - just RM60 for unlimited broadband access and no phone line rental.

Well I currently pay RM66 for my broadband and another RM26 for my phone line rental, so I thought this deal would be good.

But wait - the catch is this - the phone line rental is free if you only use it to receive calls and to access your broadband. But if you pick up the phone to make a call, you will be charged RM28 for the phone line rental!.

Could be a good deal if you don’t use your home phone at all. So if you wanna save your phone line rental, just dial 100 and tell them to change your plan to the Streamyx Combo 1.

We can choose to enjoy what we love, or remove our favourite snacks from our diet.

But then again, we live to eat, and it’s really hard to say no to snack on some lovely fried crispy crunchy oil-soaked banana fritters, sweet potatoes, yam, breadfruit, cempedak and cokodok. With or without the extra cancer causing plastic thrown in.

So if you are like me, then remember to take daiy good quality anti-oxidants and do a Cleanse and Detox every 6 months, just to make sure, all such surprises are regularly cleansed out of our internal systems.

Every celebration calls for food and without such asian favourites, life would be meaningless!. So just continue to eat, drink and be merry, for you may not get to enjoy it later on.

Good or Bad, Hard to Say!

Once upon a time, there was a king. The king liked one of his followers very much because he was very wise and always gave very useful advice. Therefore the king took him along wherever he went.

One day, the king was bitten by a dog, the finger was injured and the wound was getting worse. He asked the follower if that was a bad sign. The follower said, Good or bad, hard to say’.

In the end, the finger of the king was too bad that had to be cut. The king asked the follower again if that was a bad sign. Again, the follower gave the same answer, ‘Good or bad, hard to say’. The king became very angry and sent the follower to prison.

One day, the king went hunting in the jungle. He got excited when he was on the chase of a deer. Deeper and deeper he went inside the jungle. In the end he found himself lost in the jungle. To make thing worse, he got captured by the native people lived inside the jungle.

They wanted to sacrifice him to their god. But when they noticed that the king had one finger short, they released him immediately as he was not a perfect man anymore and not suitable for sacrifice.

The king managed to get back to his palace after all. And he finally understood the follower’s wise quote, ‘Good or bad, hard to say’. If he hadn’t lost one finger,he could have been killed by the native people.

He ordered to release the follower, and apologized to him. But to the king amaze, the follower was not mad at him at all. Instead, the follower said, ‘It wasn’t a bad thing that you locked me up.’ Why?

Because if the king hadn’t locked the follower up, he would have brought the follower along to the jungle. If the native found that the king was not suitable, they would have used the follower. Again, the quote ‘Good or bad, hard to say’ stands.

The moral of the story:

Everything happens for a reason and there is no absolute good or bad. Sometimes good things turned out to be bad things eventually, while bad things become a gain.

Whatever good things that happen to you, enjoy it, but don’t hold too tight to it, treat it as a surprise in your life.Whatever bad things that happen to you, don’t have to feel too sad or despair, in the end, it might not be a total bad thing after all.

If one can understand this, he or she will find life much easier.

1. KEEP YOUR TROUBLES TO YOURSELF and make people believe you are having awonderful time.

2. ORGANIZE YOUR LIFE; keep an appointment book so that you don’t have to use the words that sicken me: "I FORGOT." At the end of each day, list what you did and plan your work for the next day. If you know where you are going you will get there.

3. WORK WHEN YOU WORK; don’t take long lunch hours or play golf when you should be working. Eat with people who can help your cause, not co-workers.

4. DRESS THE PART; what kind of people are you dealing with. If you are selling to blue collar workers, don’t wear $500 suits and expensive shoes, jewelry or watches. Wear it on your own time, not when you’re working - clothes can turn people off.

5. OBSERVE GIRARD’S NO-NOs; No smoking or chewing tobacco, no gum, no colognes, no profanity or dirty jokes, and men do not wear earrings while you are working. Turn off cell phones - they’re irritating. The biggest killer of them all is NOT BEING ON TIME.

6. LISTEN! People can tell if you’re not listening. The longer you listen, the more obligated people will feel to you. The more you listen, the more likely a customer is going to do business with you. Listening shows that you care. "The mouth should only be used for eating - keep your mouth shut!" Silence is Golden.

7. SMILE! A smile increases your face value. If people would smile more, they would feel better and make their customer feel like doing business with them.

8. KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE; hang around with positive people, stay away from naysayers or crybabies. If something isn’t going right in your life, keep it to yourself - no one wants to hear your problems.

9. RETURN ALL PHONE CALLS & EMAILS; not returning calls or emails are a way to lose customers and friends. Return your calls and emails as soon as possible.

10. TELL THE TRUTH; if you get caught in a lie even once, you will always be considered a liar. Even if you tell the truth for the rest of your life, you won’t be trusted or believed.

11. DON’T OVERCHARGE; if you do, and the customer compares your deal with somebody else, you will have lost him. Take a little and leave a little; Joe only worked on a small profit, but he was heavy on volume, averaging six retail automobile sales a day. Word of mouth got around that you can’t beat Joe Girard’s price.

12. STAND IN FRONT OF YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICES; not behind. The most important thing to do for your customer is SERVICE them, and they will do business with you over and over again.
